A travel agent in Washington, DC, tells about three of his experiences with politicians among his customers:
1. A US Senator asks a question about the documents he needs in order to fly to China. After a lengthy discussion about passports, the agent reminds him that he needs a visa. "I have been to China several times and I never had to have one of those," responded the Senator.
The agent double checks and tells him his stay requires a visa. The Senator replies: "Look, I have been to China four times and every time they have accepted my American Express."
2, An Illinois Congresswoman calls to ask how it is possible that her flight from Detroit leaves at 8:30 am and get to Chicago at 8:33 am. The agent explains that Michigan is an hour ahead of Illinois, but she cannot understand the concept of time zones. Finally, he tells her the plane goes very fast and she buys that.
3. A New York lawmaker calls and asks whether airlines put your physical description on your bag. The agent says: "No, why do you ask?" She replies: "When I checked in they put a tag on my luggage that said FAT. I am overweight and I think that is very rude." The agent looks into her booking and observes she had flown to Fresno, CA. The airline had put a tag on her bag showing Fresno’s airport code: FAT (Fresno Air Terminal).
