| Admission to the USA a bit less bureaucratic |
However, this red tape is being reduced a little bit as the US Customs and Border Protection (CBP) has begun a transition to paperless processing for VWP travelers who have obtained a travel authorization. Most airlines now receive and validate messages pertaining to the traveler’s ESTA status as part of the passengers’ boarding status. As a result, VWP travelers entering the USA will no longer need to fill out the green I-94W form nor be given a departure coupon in their passport. So far, they had to submit this coupon on departure. CBP has activated the automated processing for US airports on a rolling basis. Automated processing will be completed at all US international airports by the end of July 2010. However, the paper form I-94W will continue to be required for VWP travelers arriving without an approved ESTA travel authorization. Related article: “Traveling to the USA again more difficult”
