| Enjoy your meal (or not) |
On flights from Amsterdam to Bangkok, Taipeh, Dubai, Cape Town, Singapore, and Denpasar they can choose from four meals. However, they need to order the meal and pay €15 ($20) for it prior to departure. As usual, commercial director Erik Varwijk present the new service reduction as an improvement: “The wishes and preferences of our customers are key.” They may fly another airline offering free meals and lower fares, while they put up with a plane change. Or passengers may take their own meal on board. Filled rolls taste better and are cheaper than what they get on KLM.
